Please comment on your role and day-to-day responsibilities.
Day to day I continue to learn in my interest area of Power Engineering. It is great to put my previous experience and knowledge to use in this different field. Day to day responsibilities include completing tasks assigned by my supervisor and workgroup at the time. At the moment this includes report writing, investigating assets, collaborating with other work groups and SME's, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, power system modelling, risk quantification, NPV and VRC calculations.

In my current role as a graduate engineer, my day-to-day responsibilities can vary depending on my rotation within the company. This aspect of the job keeps it interesting and allows me to gain a broad spectrum of experiences in the engineering field.

Changes with each rotation but the best rotations are when you get to predominantly work on a large project which has a positive impact on the rest of the team, with a little bit of BAU work on the side.

My role sees me explore many different types of work and jobs, which is beneficial for myself being early into my professional career. My day-to-day responsibilities are tailored to my skill level which in turn keeps me satisfied that I can confidently complete the work.

My current rotation is in Isolated Networks. Isolated Networks team own and operate 33 isolated power stations, with stand-alone electricity networks, that supply communities too remote to connect to the national grid. My day-to-day responsibilities are the asset management of these power stations especially as it relates to generator and control system replacement. For these tasks I attend site visits to remote communities with designers and consolidate their advice to develop a scope of works. Furthermore, as you may have seen on the news EQL is decarbonising these communities. As part of this process, I assist senior engineers with renewable penetration studies. This is very exciting for me as it relates heavily to my thesis in university.

As a Engineer within the graduate program the role changes every 6 months. Most direct supervises and other members of the direct team I have worked with have been very supportive in leanings. the work being allocated has generally been challenging and meaningful.
