The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur) has announced the introduction of four new postgraduate programmes through virtual learning, allowing working professionals to continue their education. According to the institution, the course material will be provided entirely online and will assist in upskilling working individuals with industry expertise. The industry-focused 60-credit, 12-module programme has one to three-year completion times. Alumni status, access to the institute's placement cell, alumni network, and incubation cell will be accesible to the candidates. A participant who chooses to pursue an advanced degree at IIT Kanpur may transfer the credits acquired during this programme to an advanced degree (regular MTech or PhD).
The postgraduate programme is delivered in a hybrid manner, with participants learning from IIT Kanpur professors online through the digital delivery platform ipearl.ai. They will also be able to visit IIT Kanpur to meet professors and get a taste of campus life.
“With the introduction of eMasters, we have gone another step ahead by offering degree credential programmes that allow working professionals access to our ecosystem of resources and knowledge,” said Professor Abhay Karandikar, Director, IIT Kanpur, in a statement. This year, we're beginning with four programmes and will be adding more shortly. A formal degree in a top industry-focused field will be extremely aspirational for working people. It would enable students develop domain knowledge and prepare them to play an important role in India's digital transformation.”
