The Deloitte Story

Deloitte was founded in 1845 by William Welch Deloitte in New York City. The company was later called Deloitte, Plender, Griffiths & Co., and in 1989, the Deloitte Haskins & Sells merger was completed, creating Deloitte & Touche LLP. In 1993, Deloitte acquired Mostek Corporation, a semiconductor manufacturer in Silicon Valley. In 2001, Deloitte’s consulting division became independent, with its management and global board of directors separate from the UK firm's accounting and assurance divisions. The UK firm's name was changed to Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL).

In 2002, Deloitte acquired Net2Phone for $440 million and merged its operations with KPMG Consulting to form KPMG Consulting Inc., now KPMG Digital Services Inc. In 2003, DTTL acquired Ernst & Young Consulting for USD 1.3 billion and merged its operations with Price Waterhouse Coopers Consulting to form PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC).

The firm has more than 150 offices across the globe, with over 150,000 professionals serving clients in over 140 countries. Deloitte now is one of the largest professional services firms globally, with revenue of $27 billion (the fiscal year 2012).

Culture and Vibe

Deloitte has a culture that is open, collaborative, and inclusive. Their employees are encouraged to think creatively, challenge the status quo, develop their career aspirations and contribute to their global community of professionals.

Recruitment Process

The candidates who clear the preliminary screening will be called for a technical interview. They will be asked questions related to their field of study, work experience, and knowledge in software development.

Candidates who clear the technical interviews will be invited to face-to-face interviews with the hiring managers. The face-to-face interview will assess their communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. It allows both parties to determine each other's compatibility before moving ahead with the next stage of the process - joining Deloitte as an official employee.

Career Prospects

In addition to ongoing on-the-job training, the company also offers employees an extensive array of continuing education courses and workshops designed to enhance their current skill set or prepare them for new positions within the organization. The company offers executive education programs, online learning courses, conferences, seminars, and workshops.

Remuneration

The average salary of a Deloitte employee in India is INR 12,50,000 per year. An associate analyst earns INR 380000 per year, while a tax consultant can earn INR 590000 per annum.

I would suggest the young pass outs to research and understand what the market demands. Figure out what interests you the most by exploring various fields. I would like to conclude by saying “ Don’t stop when you are tired, stop when you are done.”
