Culture at White & Case

8.1
8.1 rating for Culture, based on 7 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
Personally, my hours have been fine. Cooperation and team vibes in some teams are good, but other teams are not so good. There are some partners who have associates cycle through their teams (no one stays for longer than 2 years), which shows they do not have the team vibe to hold down a team. However, other teams are consistent and great vibes, so depends on the team and the partners leading the team.

A hierarchy exists but you never feel it in a cultural sense as people in all di?erent roles socialise and cooperate to achieve collaborative goals. The workplace is a very collaborative and supportive one and you are never made to feel silly for asking questions.

Generally great culture fostered through Firm events such as fortnightly breakfast and team dinners or events. Further, everyone is usually happy to catch-up for a coffee and this allows team members across the firm to get to know each other better. However, as the firm has increased in size and lateral hires, the firm culture has changed and there could be more efforts made for the lateral hires to get to know the other teams better.

Culture in the o?ce is good, juniors collaborate together even if in di?erent teams and often go on drinks after work. Hierarchy is typical of law ?rms - partners / senior associates / associates / graduates / paralegals. High level of cooperation within teams - everyone has their responsibilities and this is set out clearly. Socialising among colleagues is always welcome and only as much as is comfortable for people - if someone isn't interested, feel free to say no.
