Li P’ing Yu, Business Advisor to the Director of Upstream International

Li P’ing joined Shell in 2002 as a Project Engineer in Malaysia before moving to the Netherlands in 2006 where she has held a number of strategic and commercial roles. She went on to study for her MBA in Switzerland, returning to Shell and her current role in 2015. “It’s important for young women to see other women in leadership positions,” she says.

Maria Irvin, VP HR Talent and Development

UK-born Maria’s career in business consultancy led her to set up her own company in Australia before moving to Scotland to pursue a similar function. She joined Shell in 2004 as a Project Manager and formed the ‘Shell Project Academy’, before moving into a VP role in Upstream HR.

Nayrim Buchan, Wells Engineer Manager

Nayrim started her career as a Consultant Production Technologist working for multiple oil and gas operators in numerous worldwide locations. She joined Shell in 2014 as an experienced hire and went on to become the Functional Lead and Technical Authority for Completions and Well Interventions (CWI). She says: “Engineering and maths careers are not easy, but they are very rewarding. That’s the message that we need to get back to girls in school.”

Marjolein van Delft, Indirect Tax Lead, EMEA

As well as her role in tax, Marjolein van Delft has also been President of the Shell Women’s Network NL (WNS-NL) since May 2015. In this role she has set a new strategy of implementing gender balance that achieves better business performance. She is also passionate about Diversity & Inclusion and is an active member of the ‘D&I in tax’ team.
