Michelin came to India almost a decade ago and through a rapidly expanding distribution network, has established itself as a leading international tyre maker in the country.
Today, we offer a range of tyres that feature the best of Michelin’s innovative technology. Our tyres are designed, produced, and marketed to meet the challenges of mobility in the Indian market. Michelin’s range of products in India caters to the rising demands of Passenger Cars, Truck & Bus, and Two Wheeler & OTR (Off the Road) vehicles.
In order to ensure that Michelin quality tyres are supported with the highest levels of service, Michelin has innovated in the distribution space, providing drivers with a much better tyre buying experience. Michelin’s customer touch-points span across India and comprise TYRE PLUS, Michelin Priority Partners, Michelin Truck Service Center, and Recamic.
In 2009, Michelin Group and Tamil Nadu government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Michelin’s tyre manufacturing plant. This 290 acres facility is currently focused on manufacturing a range of Radial Truck/Bus tyres.
Around our Chennai manufacturing unit, most of our community projects are designed in consultation with local stakeholders and are implemented with the direct participation of beneficiaries (e.g. biogas programs, and health and skill development).
Michelin India’s operation is assisted by Michelin India Technology Center (MITC), an integral part of the company’s global R&D network that has over 6,000 employees engaged in research, development, and process engineering. Complemented by a Materials Test Laboratory at Manesar, Haryana, MITC is focused on radial truck and bus tyre R&D to support Michelin manufacturing facilities in Chennai, China, and Thailand.
