Recruitment Process

The recruitment process at McKinsey & Company is very competitive. The company recruits from a variety of top universities around the world, and only hires the best and brightest candidates. McKinsey & Company has a three-step interview process.
Applicants should ensure that they are thoroughly prepared for each stage of the process. The first stage is a written application, which includes questions about your background, experiences, and motivations. Your application (i.e., cover letter, CV/resume) is the first and most important proof of your written communication abilities, present it in a thoughtful and compelling way. Make it simple to spot distinct features.

The first round is generally made up of two 45-minute one-on-one interviews. Each interview will include a problem-solving business case session as well as an experience interview to assess other skill sets. The company advises that the applicant provide two personal examples to illustrate their abilities and help the organization. It is critical during the interview for the candidate to speak in a conversational tone about their experiences while also providing information on the difficulties, objectives, and actions taken to bring about change.

The final round of interviews will take place in the candidate's future workplace, which is why it's so important to prepare for those discussions. Each office and practice has a slightly distinct format for its last-round interviews.
