In the 20th century, precisely in 1967, this bank launched the world's first ATM.

In 2011, a publication recognized Barclays Bank as the most influential international firm in the aspect of ownership and corporate domination over market competition and worldwide financial stability. 
 
In terms of size, Barclays Bank is regarded as the fifth largest firm in Europe, with a broad international reach covering 40 countries.
